"Binary Stars and Interstellar Recycling"
Abstract:

In order to assess the contribution of matter from binary star evolution to the ISM it is necessary to have an idea of the distribution of binary star parameters. These we attempt to find from a sample of spectroscopic binaries in the local solar neighbourhood d ≤ 100 pc and M_v ≤ 4. While not strictly volume-limited, our sample allows us to make an assessment of distance-dependent selection effects and hence absolute parameter distributions.
