The Recent, Rare Superoutburst of the Extraordinary Cataclysmic Variable, WZ Sagittae |
WZ Sagittae is an unusual and very
important dwarf nova system, it may harbour a degenerate mass losing secondary
star and a weakly magnetic rapidly rotating white dwarf primary that acts
as a weak magnetic propellor. Thus WZ Sge is an important system in relation
to Population Synthesis studies and accretion disc physics.
I will present highlights of recent observations of WZ Sge obtained during an extremely rare superoutburst. I will discuss the implications of preliminary analysis of time resolved spectroscopy and long term photometric monitoring obtained during the course of the outburst. |
