"A long, hard look at the Seyfert galaxy MCG-6-30-15 with XMM-Newton" |
Abstract:
The rapid and seemingly random fluctuations in X-ray luminosity of Seyfert galaxies provided early support for the standard black hole + accretion disc model. This model was further supported by the detection of a broad asymmetric emission line in the X-ray spectrum of the Seyfert galaxy MCG-6-30-15. We will discuss some recent results obtained from long observations of Seyfert 1 galaxies with XMM-Newton and in particular emphasise new results on the timing properties of MCG-6-30-15 based on a very long observation. |
