"Spectroscopic Studies Probing the Chemical Environment Around Stars"
Abstract:

High resolution spectroscopic studies probing the chemical environment around stars will be discussed. UIR observations (near and mid-IR) in the unique object of the Red Rectangle will be shown which provide criteria against which theoretical models and laboratory data for PAH emission can be tested. Another study of absorption spectroscopy of a circumstellar environment using background stars will also be presented. A study has been carried out to probe the circumstellar envelope of IRC +10216 using optical absorption spectroscopy towards background stars lying behind the envelope.
