Ernest Rutherford Fellowships

The Southampton astronomy group is seeking applications from candidates intending to apply for STFC Ernest Rutherford Fellowships in the 2023 applications round.

The group can only support a strictly limited number of candidates, and so an internal selection process will be carried out prior to the anticipated closing date in September.

The timetable for this process is:

  • Applications to the department must be received by 4pm on Friday 28th July 2023. These applications should include:
    • The UKRI Resume for Research and Innovation (R4RI)
    • Sections 4-8 and 10 of the form, i.e. years postdoctoral experience, vision (400 words), approach (1200 words), applicant capability to deliver, references, and list of directly relevant publications/outputs
    • written permission for us to store and distribute your data electronically for the purposes of the selection process.
  • Applicants will be informed of the results of the internal selection process by Friday 4th August 2023.
  • Individual applications to STFC by 21st September 2023 .

We are fully committed to promoting equality, diversity & inclusion, and we want our group to provide an open and inclusive environment where students and staff of all backgrounds can thrive and feel valued. For more details, see our ED&I page.

All prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact any of our members of staff to discuss the opportunities within the group, or directly to the Head of the Astronomy Group, Sebastian Hoenig.
