By car

University of Southampton Highfield Campus is a 5 minute drive from the end of the M3 motorway (junction 14). Physics and Astronomy is in building 46, which is best reached from Chamberlain Road, by turning left off The Avenue on to Highfield Lane, then left again on to Hawthorn Road. On-street parking in the area is time-limited/permit-controlled, as is on-campus parking. Pre-booked visitor parking is available.

By train or plane

Southampton Airport Parkway railway station is the most convenient station to the University and is also directly adjacent to Southampton Airport. From Gatwick Airport, it is best to take the train via Clapham Junction (approx. 1h 40m). From Heathrow Airport, it is easiest to take a direct coach (approx. 1 hr) with National Express. Alternatively, take a RailAir coach to either Woking or Reading and then catch the train to Southampton Airport Parkway or take the London Underground to Victoria train station and catch the train from there (both approx. 2hr).

Train times can be found at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk

From Southampton Airport Parkway station (and directly outside Southampton Airport), the Unilink U1 bus goes directly to Highfield Campus. Taxis are also available - it is a 10 minute drive to Highfield Campus - but note that local taxi companies pick up from the car park opposite the terminal, not from the terminal itself.
